Maximize your DoorDash earnings
Two Dashers in the same city can earn very different hourly rates. The difference usually isn't luck — it's when they work, where they sit, and which orders they take. Here's where the leverage is.
Work the Peak Pay windows
The single biggest lever is timing. Peak Paybonuses appear during the busiest stretches — lunch, dinner, weekends, and bad weather — and stack on every delivery. An hour of dashing during a Peak Pay surge can out-earn two hours of dead afternoon time. Build your schedule around when demand (and the bonuses) are highest, not just when it's convenient.
Position near hotspots
Where you wait matters as much as when. Sitting near a cluster of busy restaurants — the app's hotspots are a starting point, but your own experience is better — means shorter drives to pickups and faster back-to-back orders. Less time driving empty and less time waiting is more deliveries per hour at the same effort.
Consider multi-apping
Many drivers run more than one delivery platform at once so they can compare offers and avoid idle time. Done carefully, multi-appingfills the gaps between DoorDash orders and lets you cherry-pick the best-paying delivery available. Done sloppily, it leads to late deliveries and poor ratings — so only stack what you can comfortably handle, and never accept two time-conflicting orders you can't both fulfill well.
Be disciplined about accept/decline
You don't have to take every order. The orders you decline protect your hourly rate as much as the ones you accept. A useful habit is to think in dollars per mile and dollars per hour: low-pay, long-distance offers quietly drag your average down while burning gas. Know your personal floor — a minimum per mile and per delivery — and decline below it without hesitation.
Keep an eye on program standing as you decline, but don't let fear of a metric push you into orders that lose you money. The goal is the highest sustainable earnings per hour, not the most deliveries.
Decline the bad ones with confidence
DoorDashCalc turns any offer into a real hourly rate after driving costs, so your accept/decline calls are backed by numbers instead of gut feel. Free to try.
